I can only think of one word that describes this television show. AWESOME!
I am at episode 5, just finished watching a woman blast off
the head of her younger sister. The show is not all gore and splatter, mind you. It's not gratuitous, which you might expect. They're really touching on what it's like to be in a war. A real war. I remember reading about World War II-- and how neighbors killed neighbors-- the same people they had a dinner with two weeks ago.
The photography is great-- the actors amazing-- sound is just right. I might be shifting my favorite show to "The Walking Dead"-- I absolutely love "Breaking Bad" -- produced by the same guys (AMC). It's just been too long since a "Breaking Bad." episode. What's holding you up?? Regardless-- both are great... and if you've missed earlier "The Walking Dead"-- go get'm!!
One thing that strikes me about this television show is how it deals on several levels -- it's not just horror, blood and mayhem. They're touching on some pretty gritty subjects like child abuse; infidelity, Spousal abuse.
Another poignant moment in the episode I'm watching is a regular character who is slowly succumbing to the zombie "virus". He has been bitten-- everyone knows-- but he is acting normally-- or trying to. He has a fever-- not a good sign. He even knows it. He's like a "dead man walking."
"Another damn tree,"
"You know it doesn't have to be this way."
"The breeze feels nice."
"Just close your eyes sweetie. Don't worry,"
"Jim-- do you want this?" handing him his pistol.
"No."
"You'll need it."
"I'm OK."
"Thanks for fighting for us."
I haven't got to the end of the episode-- so I won't spoil it for. Suffice it to say-- it's good TV!
(Editor note: I have watched to the end-- this show is AWSOME!!")
